A Deep Dive into Posture: Assessing Posture of the Lower Body with Alex

Announcing the first part of three: The Deep Dive Posture Series with Alex of Integrative Bodywork for the Manual Therapist (The Posture Deep Dive Series includes the Lower Body, the Upper Body and the Torso)

Posture Assessment of the Lower Body (Hips to Feet): A Deep Dive into Posture Assessment (and some Myofascial and Movement Assessment too) with Alex Susbauer, LMT, BCSI.

Have you ever been to a workshop where the instructor quickly dissected a student’s posture and left most everyone wondering what just happened? Get confused about what exactly to look for when assessing posture? Want to know more about posture in a structured, check-list style format? Then this workshop is made for you!

In this small group, 3 hour workshop we will explore the posture of the lower body. We will explore bone positions in real and relative motion comparisons. We will explore common postural patterns and the myofascial structures that lead to these patterns. We will do some gait analysis in comparison to the postural assessment. We will explore how fascial lines of tension telegraph across the lower limbs and into the pelvis. We will also look at ways to recognize restricted fascia and tense muscles, even in areas where the posture is neutral.

Students will be given a worksheet of postural checks to go through when looking at clients. This is a great tool when first learning to do posture assessment.

We will look at numerous examples of postural distortion patterns in a slideshow format but we will also be spending most of our time looking at the posture of workshop participants. Please bring or wear lower body assessment appropriate clothing such as athletic shorts if you would like to have your posture assessed in class.

This workshop is part of the “Deep Dive” Series of Workshops held by Alex in his studio space in Mt Tabor. As such, space is limited to 8 students. Don’t delay signing up, the first workshop filled up in less than 24 hours…if there are enough sign-ups a second workshop will be offered next year.
