This is a rotating series of small, Tuesday evening workshops that I run at my bodywork studio. Generally they are 4 hours long and offer the same number of Contact Hour CEs. Max number of students is 8. I run about one of these a month. Current offerings are posted on the IBMT CURRENT WORKSHOPS PAGE.

IF THERE IS A WORKSHOP THAT YOU’D LIKE TO ATTEND BUT DON’T SEE IT LISTED IN THE CURRENT WORKSHOPS PAGE, LET ME KNOW…OR, BETTER YET, FIND 3 OTHER PEOPLE THAT WOULD LIKE TO TAKE IT TOO AND WE’LL MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Currently the line includes:

"Knot the Rhomboids?!” - An exploration into the deep thoracic spine anatomy and techniques to ease, free, mobilize and enliven this often misunderstood area.

“Every. Single. Bone.” - An exploration of lower leg, ankle and foot mechanics and mobilizations. And, that’s right, we cover Every. Single. Bone. of the ankle and foot.

“The Mostly Side Lying Neck Workshop” - The side lying position creates some interesting advantages to working with the neck. In this class we look at the myofascial anatomy of the neck and explore what side lying has to offer us when easing, freeing, and enlivening the neck myofascia.

“Posture Deep Dive: Lower Body Edition” - We’ll explore guidelines and common pitfalls for posture assessment as well as perform an in-depth analysis of the posture of the hip, legs, ankles and feet. There will be a handout/study guide that can work as a guideline for practice. Gait will also be covered as it relates to the lower body.

“Posture Deep Dive: Torso Edition” - We’ll explore guidelines and common pitfalls for posture assessment as well as an perform an in-depth analysis of the posture of the hip, spine and rib cage. There will be a handout/study guide that can work as a guideline for practice. Gait and breathing mechanics will also be covered.

“Posture Deep Dive: Upper Body Edition” - We’ll explore guidelines and common pitfalls for posture assessment as well as perform an in-depth analysis of the posture of the rib cage, shoulder girdle, arms, neck and head. There will be a handout/study guide that can work as a guideline for practice.

“All About Tendons” - In this workshop we’ll explore current understanding of tendons and fascia and what we can do about tendons and fascia as bodyworkers. General information will be covered as well including how Nutrition and Lifestyle choices impact the health of fascia.

“Work-Less Workshop” - This is a spin-off of the “All About Tendons” Workshop where we will explore massage therapist injuries…the statistics are alarming. We will cover ways to incur injury based upon current understanding of injury and connective tissues as well as outline ways to AVOID injury as a manual therapist.

“Greatest Hits of the Upper Body” - This all-day workshop explores common postural and movement issues in the neck, upper torso and shoulders and explores techniques to deal with the most common patterns and complaints in this area.

“Choose Your Own Adventure Line” - Have a topic you’re curious about? Have at least one other person interested? Let’s talk and see what we can come up with…

“Give Them a Hand” - This workshop explores the marvel of our main tools as manual therapists: our forearms and hands. We will explore anatomy, common injuries and ways to work the hands that don’t destroy the hands.

“Intraoral Bodywork 101” - By popular request this workshop is what it says: just the basics of how to work inside the jaw to release the masseter, temporalis and both lateral and medial pterygoids.

“Structure & Function Series” -This 5 part Workshop Series (that can be taken individually because each class stands alone) is an extension of the popular Posture Assessment Deep Dives. In it we will explore Posture, Gait, and Functional Movements and Integrative Manual Therapy Strategies for addressing common issues found in the Ankle-Foot-Knee, Hip, Torso, Shoulders, and Neck-Head-Jaw.

“All About the Anterior Cervicals” - By request, this workshop covers the anatomy, indications, contraindications, fascial patterning, movement and posture implications, and bodywork for the SCM, Anterior Scalenes, and the Longus Colli and Capitis. This is aimed to cover the basics and walk students through these muscles for the first time but this class also makes a great clarification and review for practitioners that already work in this area.

“All About the Iliopsoas” - By request, this workshop covers the anatomy, indications, contraindications, fascial patterning, movement and posture implications, and bodywork for the iliacus and psoas muscles. This is aimed to cover the basics and walk students through these muscles for the first time but this class also makes a great clarification and review for practitioners that already work in this area.

“All About the Abdominals” - By request, this workshop covers the anatomy, indications, contraindications, fascial patterning, movement and posture implications, and bodywork for the abdominal muscles. This is aimed to cover the basics and walk students through these muscles for the first time but this class also makes a great clarification and review for practitioners that already work in this area.

“All About the QL (and Lumbar Erector Spinae Muscles)” - By request, this workshop covers the anatomy, indications, contraindications, fascial patterning, movement and posture implications, and bodywork for the quadratus lumborum. This is aimed to cover the basics and walk students through these muscles for the first time but this class also makes a great clarification and review for practitioners that already work in this area.

Future Workshops in the Planning Room include:

“Scoliosis aka a detailed take on vertebra mechanics and manual therapy options” - Pretty self explanatory I think….no thrust techniques will be included, these will all be gentle, precise techniques to ease and enliven tissues.
