Integrative Bodywork
The entire planet … the entire universe is in a constant state of flux. It, just like every single cell in our body is attempting to reach a state of homeostasis. Singularly and in correlation to the whole as each cell does its job it is trying to achieve a balance—this process is never ending. We as human beings are no different than the cells that make us up. Integrative Bodywork was developed in order to better address the constant imbalances that our clients are facing in their everyday existence. It is our feeling that locating, assessing, identifying, and correcting the imbalances we find in our clients musculo-fascial-skeletal system is a direct route to increased range of motion, decreased pain, and to being a healthier human.
The locomotive system of the human body is ruled by more than one singular aspect of its own existence. We have both the central and peripheral nervous system creating and coordinating our movement patterns. We have the cardiovascular system supplying the oxygen necessary for our daily activities. We have the circulatory system that delivers the nutrients throughout our body supplying it with the necessary materials for energy production. We have connective tissue and the fascial system weaving the biological fabric that holds together our musculoskeletal system which is made up of our muscles and bones and joints …. And yet …. Most of us barely even consider all these multifaceted systems when we address our clients on the table. Its time for that to change. Its time for us to look at a more integrated approach to treating the musculoskeletal system and all that ails it.
Integrative Bodywork is a treatment-oriented approach that blends the art and science of all that bodywork can be. As manual therapists we are working on behalf of our clients to help facilitate and support changes in the musculo- fascial-skeletal system that also takes advantage of the proprioceptive physiology found in our clients’ central and peripheral nervous systems. Integrative Bodywork’s guiding philosophy is simple: manual therapy that is holistically focused and anatomically specific. Our bodywork system is going to give you as the therapist enough framework to help support you through some of the more challenging clients or moments in any session that you may face. Our bodywork system is going to allow you the freedom and creativity that so many of us as therapists crave. Most importantly our bodywork system is going to provide you and your clients with quantifiable results.
Postural assessment, range of motion testing, myofascial techniques, deep tissue body work, joint mobilization, muscle energy techniques are all a part of this approach to making a bigger difference for you as a therapist and ultimately for all of your clients.
