“Knot the Rhomboids?!” A Deep Dive into the Deep Back
Cost: $100
4 Contact Hour CEs, NCBTMB Approved
Ever wondered why the rhomboids can get such nasty knots in them? Ever have clients with a specific pain near their shoulder blade that can be almost impossible to reach? Does it sometimes hurt more when they take a deep breath in? Do you want to get learn or refine some techniques to help clients with those persistent, nagging aches they get near or under their shoulder blade?
So many times I’ve seen clients and practitioners struggle with dealing with “knots” in their rhomboids only to discover that those “knots” are actually rib angles being felt under all of the back and shoulder muscles. Over the course of my manual therapy career I’ve completely changed the way I work with the back as I’ve learned more precisely what structures are involved in the mid-back. I’ve created this workshop to explore in detail assessment, palpation and manual therapy techniques for the musculoskeletal structures that make up the mid and upper back.
During these 4 hours we will explore the musculoskeletal anatomy of the spine and ribs, especially focused on the upper thoracic region. We will also cover several techniques to release key areas in the back to bring more ease and mobility to the spine and rib cage. The postural position that results from this work can have a huge impact on the back itself but also the neck and shoulders, which rest upon it.
This workshop is part of a series of “Deep Dive” Workshops held by Alex in his studio space in Mt Tabor. As such, space is limited to 8 students.
